Mango Pineapple Smoothie
I absolutely love tropical flavored smoothies. Pineapple. Mango. Passion Fruit. Guava. All fruits that I love and that are tasty in smoothies.
But sometimes certain fruits can be difficult to locate due to location or season, which is why I made this smoothie using canned fruit! You can definitely sub for fresh or frozen, but canned fruit is often less expensive and a great shelf-stable alternative.
Is this mango pineapple smoothie made with only 3 ingredients?
Yes. This smoothie recipe is really ONLY made with 3 ingredients, plus optional ice. Because I mean, really...is ice an actual ingredient?
If you choose to modify this recipe in any other way, this recipe may take more ingredients than 3. But as written, only 3 ingredients are needed. Still not sure, keep reading to learn more about it.
What makes this smoothie so good?
- This mango pineapple smoothie is the perfect combination of sweet and tart.
- It is refreshing and tastes fresh! Yes, even if you choose to use canned fruit, it still tastes fresh! Fresh fruit is always my favorite option to use, but I also love frozen fruit too. But I have been experimenting more with canned fruit as well since it is super inexpensive and so easy to keep on hand.
- It is creamy and smoothie without needing a lot of ingredients.
- It is super easy to make. Like, soooooo easy!
- It is fairly budget-friendly!
Why should I use canned fruit for a smoothie?
- Cost-effective
- Canned fruit is easily accessible
- It can be found all year long
- Easy
- Quick
- The fruit is canned at peak freshness so it is always full of flavor
- Canned fruit is shelf-stable
- It is easy to keep on hand in your pantry
Can I use fresh or frozen fruit instead of canned fruit?
Yes, you can! I love using frozen and fresh fruits in smoothies, but sometimes it is hard to find, only available seasonally, or expensive. When that is the case, canned fruit is a great alternative.
This recipe uses both canned fruit and the fruit juice that comes in the canned fruit. So if you sub the fruit for fresh or frozen, you will also need to add a liquid of your choosing. You can use juice, milk, or a milk-alternative liquid, it is up to you.
Long story short, you can easily sub the canned fruit for fresh or frozen fruit!
Is this mango pineapple smoothie thick and creamy?
Mangos are awesome. They are full of fiber and are one of my favorite ways to ensure a thick smoothie. This recipe also includes a banana which is perfect for keeping smoothies creamy and adds a bit of natural sweetness too. This recipe creates a thick and creamy smoothie without any modification.

How do I make a mango pineapple smoothie?

Can I save a smoothie for later?
Smoothies are best when you are able to drink them right away. However, if you make too much and want to save some for later, you can store it in a refrigerator for up to 24 hours. I suggest giving the smoothie a quick blend before drinking it.
Are pineapple and mango good for you?
Yes! Pineapple and mangos are good for you. They are fresh fruit and fresh fruit is healthy for you. They are both low in calories while being high in vitamins and minerals. While they do contain sugar, it is natural sugar, not an additive. Fruit is a great alternative for that sweet tooth fix.

There are many blenders you can use for making smoothies, milkshakes, and frozen drinks, but I personally own the Vitamix 780 and think it is simply the best.
