    I am just loving all these green smoothies that I have been making recently and this Green Apple Avocado Green Smoothie is a tart and tangy smoothie full of healthy ingredients!  Similar to my Avocado Smoothie, this smoothie rich and creamy but the green apples add a tartness that is so delicious.  And with all the healthy ingredients in this green smoothie recipe, you are able to sneak lots of healthy goodness into you (or your family's) diets!  Woot woot!  Keep reading to learn more about how to make this Green Apple Avocado Green Smoothie.

    What are the ingredients to make a green smoothie?

    Green smoothies can be made out of so many ingredients!  The important thing is that at least one of the ingredients is...you guessed it...green!

    Spinach or kale are a great way to begin a green smoothie.  Spinach has a more mild flavor than kale and so it is my preference to use most of the time. But kale is delicious too!

    Spinach or kale give a beautiful green base to any smoothie and as long as you don't add any ingredients that are strongly red or purple, you can add almost anything to create a green smoothie.

    I love adding fruits and veggies that are green, white, yellow or orange to green smoothies to keep the color green and the taste refreshing and delicious!

    What blender is best for smoothies and milkshakes?

    There are many blenders you can use for making smoothies, milkshakes and frozen drinks, but I personally own the Vitamix 780 and think it is simply the best.  I get smooth, consistent results every single time which is exactly what I want for all my drinks!  You can buy your own Vitamix 780 HERE.  It is my favorite and I know you will love it too!

    Green Apple Avocado Green Smoothie

    Ingredients:

    • 1 ripe Avocado
    • 1 frozen Banana
    • 1 Granny Smith Apple
    • ½ cup Spinach
    • ½ cup Milk
    • 1 Tablespoon Honey
    • ½ cup Ice

    Directions:

    1. Place all ingredients in the blender of your choice and blend until smooth.
    2. Enjoy!

    Yes that is really all there is to it!

    Creating smoothies with avocado are a great way to add extra healthy fat and nutrients into your daily diet and as a bonus, avocados in smoothies create a very creamy texture!  Be sure to choose a ripe (but not too over ripe) avocado for the best smoothie possible!

    If you don't have a frozen banana, use a fresh one and add a bit more ice to your smoothie.

    You can also stretch this smoothie out a bit by adding more milk and ice to your recipe.

      Can you substitute with almond milk? Or will it affect the flavor?

        Yes, you definitely can. I sub non-dairy milk alternatives for milk all the time. It may change the texture slightly and make it slightly less cream, but the flavor is generally only very mildly affected if at all! Most of the time I don't even notice the difference.

        If you make smoothies ahead of time, they tend to separate and turn brown due to the oxidization of the fruits in the smoothie. They also tend to get thinner as any ice or frozen fruits melt.
